Dark Ice Capital / Team
Led by our co-founders, Alexandra Pohl and William Pohl III, with the team that runs the firm day to day. We are building the rest of our team in stages.
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
An owner-operator who runs businesses to a standard.
Alexandra Pohl co-founded Dark Ice Capital and is its Chief Executive Officer. She chairs its investment committee, with William Pohl III as Co-Chair.
The foundation
Raised in a real estate family, Alexandra learned capital strategy and asset performance early. She earned dual degrees in Business Management and Exercise Science as a Hall of Fame dual-sport athlete, trained in martial arts and later earned an MBA in Global Business Management.
Operations
For more than seven years she applied lean and Toyota Production System methods to complex multi-site operations: compressing project timelines and cutting waste at Toyota, and standardizing KPIs and tightening variance to budget across international programs at Danfoss.
Public service
She spent more than eight years in senior U.S. federal leadership on regulatory and infrastructure matters, and has personally directed $300 million or more in development and capital programs.
Dark Ice Capital
She leads Dark Ice Capital as an owner-operator. Every platform company reports the same core numbers in the same week each month, every investment is underwritten against a written plan, and every business carries the licenses, controls and governance its industry demands.
“We do not buy assets. We buy businesses we know how to run better.”
Alexandra Pohl
Off the clock
Away from the firm, Alexandra’s time goes to her six dogs, travel, a daily workout, and the family and friends she keeps close. Home includes Bentley, her Great Dane. She supports animal rescue.

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer
A builder who turns buildings into places people want to live.
William Pohl III co-founded Dark Ice Capital and is its Chief Operating Officer. He is Co-Chair of its investment committee, with Alexandra Pohl as Chair.
The foundation
Raised in Cincinnati by a serial entrepreneur, William grew up around a CPA firm, real estate companies, a roofing company and a collector car dealership, and learned one rule early: never quitting gives you an advantage over 99% of the people. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from American Public University.
Real estate
He started as a project manager on job sites across the eastern United States and became Managing Partner of Trustpoint Financial’s residential real estate funds by 2005. He went on to found Tetra Homes in single-family and Majorwave in multifamily, buying whole neighborhoods and apartment communities and repositioning them into places people wanted to live.
Two decades
Over two decades, his 20 residential real estate funds and his companies delivered more than 10,000 homes and apartments across eight states and Washington, D.C., with teams of fewer than 25 people. Through the 2008 collapse, he kept building, bought while others sold, gave investors the hard truth early and kept his team together.
Dark Ice Capital
He leads the operating side of Dark Ice Capital: bringing each platform company under one set of controls, one shared services model and one plan to build, acquire and operate. He walks the sites, meets the operators and asks the job-site questions: can it be built on time and on budget, will the market pay for it, and what breaks first.
“Buy it right, build it right, run it right. Everything else follows.”
William Pohl III
Off the clock
Home is four rescue dogs, a few exotic fruit trees that have no business surviving an Ohio winter, and the AI systems and websites he builds late at night. He supports animal rescue.

Chief of Staff
Suebina Wong is Chief of Staff at Dark Ice Capital, the private capital firm that owns and oversees eight platform companies: Aukeo, Cotra, ERTH Resource Group, Fortuneo, Gr3ySpace, PitcHouse, Slate Blue Capital, and UpManagement. She works directly with Alexandra Pohl, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, and is the point where the firm’s priorities meet the leadership of each company it owns.
Real estate
Much of Dark Ice Capital’s work is buying, building, and operating real businesses and real assets, and Suebina knows that ground. As a real estate agent she was ranked among the country’s best for five consecutive years, and her work centered on buying, entering new markets, and repositioning assets in the most contested big-city markets in the U.S.
Public service
Her approach was formed earlier, across twelve years with the U.S. Intelligence Community. For six of them she wore the Army uniform on active duty, leading a mission team as a Senior SIGINT Geospatial Analyst through Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Afghanistan’s Resolute Support Mission. More than one thousand government intelligence professionals have since been trained by her.
Dark Ice Capital
At Dark Ice Capital she runs the rhythm of the Investment Committee and governance councils, oversees executive priorities and internal communications, and keeps eight very different companies, from hospitality and media to natural resources and finance, reporting into one clear operating cadence.
Head of Investor Relations
McCory King is Head of Investor Relations at Dark Ice Capital, the private capital firm that owns and oversees eight platform companies: Aukeo, Cotra, ERTH Resource Group, Fortuneo, Gr3ySpace, PitcHouse, Slate Blue Capital, and UpManagement. He reports to William Pohl III, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, and works with Alexandra Pohl, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, on the firm’s capital formation.
Experience
Sophisticated investors judge a private capital firm on more than returns. They look at its operating capabilities, governance, risk discipline, leadership teams, and ability to carry out a defined value-creation plan. McCory’s perspective was shaped by exactly those questions. His career covers more than 20 years in financial services, strategic operations, risk management, and technology, including treasury-services advisory work at Bank of America for Fortune 500 companies and state clients and service as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State, where he led complex initiatives that required discretion and strategic judgment.
Dark Ice Capital
At Dark Ice Capital he represents the firm to limited partners, family offices, institutional allocators, and the executives who run its platform companies. He manages relationship development, due diligence, and ongoing reporting, linking each company’s operating results to the strategy and risks behind them so investors see not only performance but what drives it.
Education
McCory holds two degrees: a Master of Science in Intelligence Management (University of Maryland Global Campus) and a Bachelor of Science in Communications (Old Dominion University).
Head of Research
Joe Tobin is Head of Research at Dark Ice Capital, the private capital firm that owns eight platform companies: Aukeo, Cotra, ERTH Resource Group, Fortuneo, Gr3ySpace, PitcHouse, Slate Blue Capital, and UpManagement. He reports to William Pohl III, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, and works with Alexandra Pohl, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Dark Ice Capital
Private capital rewards the owner who understands a business before buying it. Joe builds the sector and market packs for each platform company, the return models for acquisitions and add-ons, and the data that feeds the firm’s diligence checklist and investment committee. His aim is simple: every case is proven with data rather than asserted.
Experience
He learned to run research the way a regulated manufacturer runs a production line, with defined steps, measured results, and decisions that hold up to review. For ten years Joe was a biotechnology subject matter expert in gene and cell therapy protein purification, rising to lead manufacturer and department supervisor; his department oversaw the development and distribution of more than 20 drug molecules for patients in critical condition. He also brings commercial instinct from 12 years in national sports entertainment, where he produced and directed live events in the U.S. and international markets and built marketing that grew audiences and merchandise sales.
Education
Joe earned his biochemistry degree with honors from Towson University in 2015. Away from work, he is a committed bodybuilder, a paddleboarder, and an epoxy resin artist.
Office Manager
Julia Tripline is Office Manager at Dark Ice Capital, the private capital firm that owns eight platform companies: Aukeo, Cotra, ERTH Resource Group, Fortuneo, Gr3ySpace, PitcHouse, Slate Blue Capital, and UpManagement. She reports to William Pohl III, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, and works closely with Alexandra Pohl, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Dark Ice Capital
Owning eight companies means a steady flow of management teams, advisors, lenders, and sellers through the firm’s doors. Julia runs that front office. She receives visitors, manages the main line, and, as assistant to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer, keeps their calendars, travel, and meeting logistics in order so that board meetings, site visits, and acquisition reviews happen on schedule. She also prepares expense reports for both leaders and coordinates with the Chief of Staff when their schedules overlap.
Experience
Her standard for that work comes from more than eight years in the Air Force, where she built experience in executive aviation, global operations, program management, and organizational leadership. Julia held positions of significant trust supporting senior national and military leadership during domestic and international operations. Her assignments required discretion, adaptability, and the ability to keep operations effective under pressure, qualities that matter when a firm is handling confidential transactions.
Leadership
As an instructor and leader, Julia managed training and qualification programs for hundreds of personnel and worked with senior leaders on workforce development and organizational improvements, including the establishment of a new aviation career field. At Dark Ice Capital she brings that organizational sense to the office itself, overseeing facilities, vendors, supplies, and equipment and running onboarding for each new member of the team.
Education
Julia has a Bachelor of Science in Cultural Anthropology and an Associate of Science in Space Technology, and she is completing a Master of Science in Intelligence Management. Away from the office, the Oregon native travels, runs, bakes, and spends time outdoors with her two dogs.
